Handcoloured botanical illustration drawn from nature by Rebecca Hey from her own publication, Spirit of the Woods, printed by London, Longman, Rees, 1837. Rebecca Hey was a Victorian writer, poet and artist who also wrote Moral of Flowers 1833 and Recollections of the Lakes 1841. The plates were most likely engraved by William Clark, a former draughtsman to the London Horticultural Society and engraver on Heys' previous book.
